Hawaii: Hawaii has a small number of people that are interested in passing a safe harbor exemption law in Hawaii. Hawaii Representatives Evans and Carroll are champions and they introduced health freedom legislation in 2007 to protect access to unlicensed practitioners. The bill did not get a hearing and no action was taken by the legislature due to lack of grassroots and consumer presence. The homeopaths are especially interested in health freedom in Hawaii because a homeopath was criminally charged for unlicensed practice of naturopathic medicine in 2006. Hopefully more health freedom advocates can be identified and a group started in Hawaii.
