Montana:  2011 brought Montana a bill that would negatively impact natural health care practitioners by increasing the number of ways that they could be disciplined or charged for practicing without a license.   Montana Health Freedom Coalition went into action to oppose the bills and they are currently stopped in place and not moving.  In 2009 Montana Health Freedom Coalition was also successful, coming close to passing a health freedom safe harbor bill, but after successfully passing the Senate 32-18, it was tabled in a House committee.  Montana’s bill would have provided a safe harbor exemption and protected access to herbalists, traditional naturopaths, homeopaths, and the many natural health care practitioners of Montana that consumers regularly use.  The first hearing of the bill was audio taped and archived by the Montana legislature and can be listened to under the Senate Business and Labor Committee audio archives on the Montana Legislature website. Montana’s Sunshine Health Freedom Foundation State Coordinator is coordinating with the original health freedom group to mobilize support across the state for these efforts.
